  2. Sift the matcha powder into the preheated bowl. Sifting eliminates clumps and provides a smoother texture for your tea. Without a sieve, use a matcha scoop to add the powder directly.
  3. Add the hot water. Pour approximately 2 ounces (60ml) of water heated to around 175°F (80°C) for optimal flavor. Without a thermometer, boil the water and cool it for a few minutes.
  4. Whisk it up! Using a bamboo whisk, mix the matcha and hot water with a quick zigzag motion until well combined. The appearance of a frothy layer indicates it’s ready.
  5. Sweeten it up (if you like). If you prefer sweet matcha, add sugar, honey, or agave syrup to taste.
  6. Savor your matcha tea. Drink it directly from the bowl and relish its rich, earthy flavor. It’s best when freshly made.
